Nigel Farage outlines first thing Keir Starmer must do after Donald Trump compared PM to Neville Chamberlain

Reform leader Nigel Farage has today urged the Prime Minister to get on the phone to Donald Trump and potentially allow the US to use UK military bases to launch attacks on Iran.

The US President’s latest deadline for Iran to agree to a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz expires at 1am tonight, with Mr Trump threatening “a whole civilisation will die tonight”.

In an expletive-laden post on Truth Social on Sunday, Mr Trump warned: "Tuesday will be power plant day and bridge day."

The US President yet again lashed out at Sir Keir Starmer yesterday, comparing him to former Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, who famously appeased Adolf Hitler in the years preceding World War Two.

However, Mr Farage told GB News: “All it needs is a quick phone call between the PM and the American President, so that we can ascertain exactly what the end plan is, what the game plan is. That's what needs to be done.”

The Prime Minister has allowed the US to use UK military bases for defensive purposes only in the conflict started by America and Israel.

But using UK bases to attack civilian infrastructure in Iran remains an entirely different matter.

Experts warn the US would be in breach of international law if it acted on Mr Trump’s threats to target energy plants and bridges.

Asked by GB News about such action and what role Britain might play, Mr Farage said: “Remember, when we go back to World War II.

"We were attacking German infrastructure, energy production in a massive, massive way.

"It all depends what the war aim is. Our war aim was to destroy Nazi Germany.

"That was perfectly clear. That's why we did things that we couldn't have even contemplated a few short years before.”

The Prime Minister has been clear that “this is not our war”, and has stood firm despite clear frustration from the US President.

No10 points to lack of public support for the war and surging prices that are already hurting Britons in the pocket.

Meanwhile, Mr Farage, a long-time friend of Mr Trump, warned: “The relationship with America is crucial.”

When GB News pointed out that the US’s aims in Iran were not clear, Farage agreed, saying: “It doesn't seem clear at all.”

However, Farage suggested that might be deliberate, adding: “The last thing Trump would ever do is signal to the world exactly what the plan was.”

Urging the Prime Minister to get in contact with Mr Trump again, he added: “The Prime Minister in confidence could find that out, and that might give him the reassurance that he needs to let America use the bases.”

Mr Farage is also worried that the consequences of war in the region could send terrorists to British shores.

“I'm very worried about it," Mr Farage explained. "I'm very, very worried, as I have been, frankly, going way back to 2015.

"You know, the first boats crossed the Mediterranean in 2015.

"Isis boasted then they would use the Med as a means of getting their operatives into Europe.

"The same principle applies today. So, look, I'm deeply concerned too.

"I want to see an end to this as quickly as possible. But we need to understand, or at least the PM needs to understand, what is America's endgame."
