POLL OF THE DAY: Should the PM try to stop Donald Trump suing the BBC?

Last night, the BBC finally issued an apology to Donald Trump for splicing together clips of him speaking to misrepresent his words.

The corporation said it had made an "error of judgement" in the Panorama programme - which aired with footage of the President appearing to incite his supporters to riot.

A BBC spokesman said the programme will "not be broadcast again in this form on any BBC platforms".

On Tuesday, the President's lawyer outlined his three demands, saying Mr Trump seeks "a full retraction, an apology, and a monetary settlement proposal from the BBC" in a GB News interview.

Then at PMQs on Wednesday, Lib Dem chief Sir Ed Davey asked the Prime Minister whether he would tell the President to drop his demand for a settlement.

In response, Sir Keir Starmer said he would always stand up for a "strong, independent BBC" - but refused to give a yes/no answer.

With a Friday night deadline looming, Mr Trump has not yet responded to the apology - and now, GB News is asking: Should the PM try to stop Donald Trump suing the BBC?
