Seaside town celebrates after sharing £12.3million Postcode Lottery jackpot

A seaside town in Lincolnshire has celebrated after sharing £12.3million Postcode Lottery jackpot.

Residents of Sutton-on-Sea came together yesterday to celebrate the remarkable win.

The winning postcode LN12 2GF was revealed during a special ceremony held at King George V Playing Fields, which also serves as the home ground for Sutton Rovers Football Club.

Lucky ticketholders gathered at the venue to open individual envelopes containing details of their prize amounts.

Postcode Lottery ambassadors Judie McCourt, Danyl Johnson and Matt Johnson attended the event to present winning cheques to the jubilant neighbours.

All participants in the LN12 2 postcode sector were guaranteed a minimum prize of £2,000.

The largest individual prize of £397,697 went to a single player holding the exact winning postcode.

A further 1,334 participants across the broader LN12 2 postcode area also secured substantial payouts, with amounts varying from £7,851 to £47,106 based on the number of tickets each person had purchased.

The size of each winner's cheque depended entirely on their level of participation in the lottery scheme.

This Postcode Millions draw distributed the £12.3million pot among neighbours throughout the seaside community, creating hundreds of new winners in a single afternoon.

Tracey Hill, 59, a holiday park deputy manager who landed a life-changing £389,846 Postcode Lottery prize, had come agonisingly close to cancelling the ticket linked to her old bungalow just days before the enormous windfall was announced.

She said: "I would have cancelled the ticket next week.

"I thought about doing it earlier but then thought 'you just never know'."

Ms Hill had decided to keep the ticket running until the sale of the property had gone through – a decision that proved to be worth nearly £400,000.

She said: "If I'd cancelled earlier, I would have felt sick. But I decided to wait until after the house was sold. I thought it would have been sod's law otherwise."

"It just means that I've not got to worry anymore about money at all," Ms Hill said.

The winner has already begun making plans for her newfound wealth, revealing she intends to purchase a new vehicle and book a holiday.

Ms Hill also expressed her intention to use some of the money to fund driving lessons for her daughter.

Matt Johnson reflected on the occasion, stating: "To be part of such a huge Postcode Lottery prize and to be able to celebrate with so many neighbours winning together in Sutton-on-Sea has been such a privilege.

"What a phenomenal day it's been!"

He added he hoped winners would continue their celebrations whilst considering how to spend their prizes.

The draw was conducted on behalf of Postcode Earth Trust, an organisation supporting environmental charities including Canal & River Trust, The Conservation Volunteers and National Trust.

Postcode Lottery is an external lottery manager which operates charity lotteries on behalf of 20 independent Postcode Trusts.
