Tiger Woods future update as golf icon ‘desperate’ for comeback after arrest

Tiger Woods remains determined to make his way back to professional golf despite facing serious legal troubles following his arrest last month in Florida.

The 50-year-old golf legend was taken into custody on 27 March after his SUV overturned whilst attempting to pass a truck and trailer at speed in the exclusive Jupiter Island area.

Woods is currently understood to be receiving treatment at a facility in Zurich, Switzerland, where sources indicate he is making encouraging progress through an intensive rehabilitation programme.

A golf insider speaking to People magazine revealed that Woods is "desperate" to resume his career once treatment concludes.

"He knows he needs to beat his issues and also deal with the pain from not only playing golf but also from his regular fitness schedule," the source explained.

Police discovered two white pills in Woods' possession at the scene, later identified as the opioid hydrocodone.

Officers noted he displayed indicators of impairment including bloodshot, glassy eyes and significantly dilated pupils, despite passing a breathalyser test.

The five-time Masters champion faces charges of driving under the influence, property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test. He entered a not guilty plea and is scheduled to appear before the court on 5 May.

Sources close to Woods told the Daily Mail that his rehabilitation is progressing well.

"He's got a pain management doctor who is helping him deal with his body pain without addictive opioids," the insider revealed.

"He's responding well to treatment, and Vanessa is very happy with what she's hearing."

The programme spans 90 days, though Woods retains the option to leave at any point.

Vanessa Trump has been supporting Tiger Woods amid a tough time for the golf star

Woods' girlfriend Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr, has stood firmly by him throughout the ordeal.

The couple, who have been together for approximately 18 months, reportedly share a deep connection that has remained intact despite the challenging circumstances.

"Tiger needed to do intensive therapy, and his girlfriend Vanessa has been in favor of it," another insider said.

"She still supports this and supports him. She loves him and knows that private treatment was necessary."

Speculation that the relationship might falter following the arrest was swiftly dismissed when Vanessa posted an affectionate photograph of the pair on Instagram a week after the incident, captioning it simply: "Love you."

Vanessa has consistently remained supportive, even during difficult periods when she expressed quiet concerns about his wellbeing.

This latest incident marks the fourth occasion Woods has encountered trouble behind the wheel.

In 2017, authorities discovered him unconscious in his vehicle in Florida with five different drugs in his system, including two painkillers, leading to another DUI arrest.

A 2021 crash in California proved even more devastating, leaving his right leg severely damaged after he became trapped beneath his vehicle, requiring numerous surgical procedures.

His troubles with cars date back to November 2009, when he collided with a fire hydrant whilst fleeing his Florida residence after his then-wife Elin Nordegren learned of his infidelity.

Prior to his arrest, Woods had spoken about his desire to compete at Augusta.

"I want to play, I've loved the tournament, I've loved being there since I was 19 years old," he said.
