'What's wrong with English!?' Green Party campaigner grilled over foreign languages used in election announcements
A Green Party campaigner was grilled over his party's decision to deliver some election announcements in foreign languages.
Michael Wakelyn-Green was asked by GB News host, Dawn Neesom: “What’s wrong with English?”
“We want to market to different people in our very diverse communities. And this has happened before.
“Election broadcasts have always been catered to various communities that we have in our communities, and speaking to people in a language that they can understand, if that's their primary language, is part of making a more inclusive society,” Mr Wakelyn-Green insisted.
However, the Green campaigner conceded that he “would like people to be able to speak English”, adding: “I'm a big fan of facilitating and funding English-speaking lessons.”
On Friday, another Green member, John Grant, confessed on GB News that the use of foreign languages in party announcements left him feeling a “little uncomfortable”.
