‘Why are Jews so low down on the UK’s security pecking order?’ - Nana Akua
Why are Jewish people so low down in the pecking order in the UK when it comes to protection?
It's been that way for decades.
If, like me, you hadn't noticed the level of due hatred in this country before October 7, then the events that day and the behaviour of many afterwards would have opened your eyes.
Despite no immediate response by Israel the following day, people were out in the streets expressing, in my view, their hatred of Jewish people.
At that point, there had been no retaliation for the attack perpetrated by Hamas, an Islamist organisation whose name translates to Islamic Resistance Movement.
Their operatives have openly expressed their hatred of and ill will towards Jews and their wish to destroy them.
So since that time, we've had pro-Palestine protests pretty much every week, initially in numerous locations around the UK.
The police have been outnumbered, people carrying hate-filled slogans and chanting from the river to the sea, which many interpret as death to all Jews and chants of globalise the Intifada.
Many interpret those words as calling for an international uprising against Jewish people.
Our publicly owned broadcaster, the BBC, is allowing chants calling for the death to the IDF to be broadcast at possibly the biggest global music event in the world, Glastonbury.
And not even appearing to notice how disgraceful that was, why they didn't just cut and move on. Who knows?
I mean, we've even had Health Secretary Wes Streeting acknowledging the danger that Jewish people may face when being treated in some NHS hospitals.
The Government is more interested in finding a definition for Islamophobia than actually delving deep into the cause of anti-Semitism, which, as far as I can see in the UK, far outweighs any hatred towards Islam.
A Government which was overturned by the courts in attempting to proscribe Palestine action as a terror group.
A government that has failed to prescribe the IRGC.
Jewish people are being attacked from so many angles, including from the left — The so-called " Be Kind " group, which is supposed to care about minority groups.
This week saw yet another attack on Jewish people in Golders Green, in the heart of the Jewish London community.
Zack Polanski retweeted a post criticising the actions of the brave police officers who rushed to apprehend the alleged suspect and protect Jewish lives.
For decades, Jewish people have had to pay for their own security, protecting their people in synagogues, schools and hospitals.
It is time for the Government to step up because so far, numerous governments have failed, and it's totally unacceptable.
