Chappell Roan sparks Grammys outrage as viewers blast 'inappropriate' topless dress: 'Put some clothes on!'
Chappell Roan has been accused of showing "no class" with an "inappropriate" wardrobe choice for this year's Grammy Awards, according to viewers at home.
The Pink Pony Club hitmaker made a jaw-dropping entrance at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday evening, stepping onto the red carpet at Los Angeles's Crypto.com Arena in a barely-there ensemble
The singer arrived wearing a sheer burgundy Mugler gown that was only saved from dragging on the floor by the fact that it was suspended entirely from nipple piercings.
The backless design, which matched her signature red hair, revealed a large tattoo and flowed into a train behind her.

The wine-red ensemble, styled by Genesis Webb, was accessorised with matching underwear, a gold choker, and open-toe heels.
When conducting interviews with television networks, including E!, the musician draped a matching cape over her shoulders to comply with broadcast standards.
However, her attempts to cover up were little consolation to viewers at home who felt Ms Roan's ensemble wasn't suitable for the awards.
Reacting to a clip of Ms Roan on the red carpet by the pop culture X page, Pop Base, one fan did not hold back: "A mess, she looks like a freak."

"PUT ON SOME CLOTHES???" a second X user typed, before a third slammed: "Just no class at all"
"This look is a tragedy," a fourth similarly hit out, before a fifth was dumbfounded: "WHAT THE F*** IS THAT OUTFIT?"
"I thought it was a wardrobe malfunction for a second," another viewer weighed in, while a seventh dismissed defence of the ensemble from the singer's fans.
"This isn’t 'c***y', 'sexy' or 'gaggy', it’s just ugly and hella inappropriate," they said.

However, Ms Roan did receive plenty of support from music fans who argued that the Pink Pony Club singer "served."
"No exaggeration this is the coolest dress i’ve ever seen in my life," one X user argued.
"Chappell they could never make me hate you," a second shared, while a third added: "OK wait she served." (sic)
The 27-year-old performer is in contention for two awards at this year's ceremony, with nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, both recognising her standalone single The Subway.

At last year's Grammys, the Good Luck, Babe! artist claimed the coveted Best New Artist trophy, delivering a memorable acceptance speech that called for industry reform.
Whilst she will not be taking to the stage to perform this evening, it has been confirmed that Ms Roan will serve as a presenter during the broadcast.
Sabrina Carpenter, who lost out to Roan in the Best New Artist category in 2025, is among her fellow nominees this year.
During her Best New Artist acceptance speech at the 2025 ceremony, Ms Roan seized the moment to address what she described as systemic failures within the music industry.

"I told myself that if I ever won a Grammy and got to stand up here before the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels in the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and health care, especially to developing artists," she declared.
The singer revealed she had been signed to a label whilst still a minor, and when subsequently dropped, found herself without job experience or access to insurance during the pandemic.
