Liberal Democrats demand investigation into Zack Polanski's professional background

The Liberal Democrats have demanded an investigation into Zack Polanski's professional background, GB News can exclusively reveal.

It follows reports that he falsely claimed he was a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy while practising.

The claim was included on his website, where he listed the letters "MNCH" after his name, a formal recognition of being a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy.

The Liberal Democrats' Home Affairs spokesman, Max Wilkinson, has written a letter to the professional body focusing on two main questions.

Their letter, dated May 6 2026 and shared exclusively with GB News, asks whether the NCH are aware of the claims surrounding Mr Polanski's membership status and, if so, whether it plans to conduct a formal inquiry.

Hypnotherapy remains largely unregulated, but MNCH members typically hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma.

Mr Wilkinson put these questions directly to the professional body, writing in the letter: "Reports in The Times raise questions about Green Party leader Zack Polanski’s credentials during his career as a professional hypnotherapist.

"Specifically, a report suggests that Mr Polanski claimed to be a full member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy at a time when he was actively practising, but that he did not hold that level of membership."

Mr Wilkinson added: "In light of these reports, I am writing to ask: 1. Whether the National Council for Hypnotherapy is aware of the allegations regarding Mr Polanski’s membership claims?

"2. Whether the National Council for Hypnotherapy intends to launch a formal investigation?

"I look forward to your prompt response outlining how the NCH intends to proceed in this matter."

The letter was signed off by the Liberal Democrat MP for Cheltenham.

It comes as Mr Polanski also faces accusations that he falsely claimed to be a spokesman for the British Red Cross during his bid to become deputy leader of the Green Party.

The claim appeared on a former fundraising page and independent promotional material, but has been denied by the British arm of the international humanitarian organisation.

The British Red Cross said Mr Polanski had never served as an official spokesperson and confirmed it had raised the issue with the politician’s team.

The Green Party said references to Mr Polanski’s role related to fundraising events he had hosted for the charity.

In 2020, Mr Polanski wrote on a personal website that he worked as a spokesman for the British Red Cross and said he was "really proud of the work we do".

Two years later, he appeared to repeat the claim while crowdfunding for his Green Party deputy leadership campaign.

An archived CrowdFunder page seen by GB News said: "As a spokesperson for the British Red Cross, I care deeply about ending racialised policing and have been calling for an end to the phoney war on drugs."

Mr Polanski has since conceded that he was wrong to claim he was a spokesman for the British Red Cross

The Green Party has been approached for comment.
