Gerwyn Price makes Reform statement as Welsh darts star blasts Plaid Cymru

Gerwyn Price has shared he thinks Reform UK "will be the future of Wales" as he blasted Plaid Cymru.

The Welsh darts star admitted to voting for the first time at the council elections for Nigel Farage's party.

Writing on Facebook, the Iceman said: "Reform have genuine voters who want change in Wales.

"Plaid have tactical voters who don't even know what they want, Reform is and will be the future of Wales and the whole of the UK."

The former world champion has posted numerous times in the past about his support for Reform.

He also shared a photograph of his ballot paper showing a cross marked next to Reform UK Wales.

Another post from the Iceman came in response to a customer eating chips from his family-run takeaway business.

Price joked: "I hope they were good chips. They will taste even better if Reform UK Wales have good news tomorrow."

The Welshman has increasingly used social media to critique mainstream parties and advocate for political change in Wales.

He has accused both Labour and Plaid Cymru of neglecting Welsh communities, asserting that Reform UK provides a fresh direction.

His comments generated significant online reactions, with supporters commending him for candidly discussing politics.

One user wrote: "It's brilliant to see someone, high profile, like yourself put your head above the parapet, and speak out. Thank you Gezzy."

Critics accused him of spreading division and making controversial claims without evidence, with one user saying: "Doesn't make him right-minded."

Price's support significantly enhances Reform UK Wales's efforts to gain traction ahead of upcoming elections.

The party has focused on Welsh voters frustrated with issues such as immigration, public services, and the cost of living.

Price, who initially had a career in rugby union, switched to darts full-time in 2014 and quickly rose through the ranks of the Professional Darts Corporation.

He won the PDC World Championship in 2021 after defeating Gary Anderson in the final.

The victory marked his first time becoming the world number one.

Known for his passionate celebrations and vibrant personality on stage, Price has become one of the sport's most recognisable figures.
